Library Policies

Library Policies

Students visit the library weekly for 40 minutes of library/information skills instruction and book selection/check-out. Students in grades 1-6 may check out two books for a one-week loan period. Kindergarten students may check out one book per week during their 30 minutes of story time.

Our library policy is not to charge overdue fines but to send an overdue notice if a student has not returned a book within the scheduled loan period. We hope, by sending this reminder, the book will be returned.  Students are not permitted to check out a new book until the current one has been returned.

To maintain our library collection, we must ask for replacement funds for books that are lost or damaged.  In the case of a lost book, if it is located and returned within 30 days of payment, payment will be refunded.  After 30 days, the payment is used to purchase a replacement copy and cannot be refunded.  Please note we are unable to accept replacement copies of books in lieu of payment, as books are ordered from a library book vendor that provides library-bound books, cataloging, and processing.

We hope to make your child’s library experience at Butler enjoyable and appreciate your support and cooperation!
